MVC – Muller Reprimanded

Editor: The following is a press release from the Missouri Valley Conference office.

(St. Louis, MO)  – Missouri Valley Conference Commissioner Doug Elgin has announced that Illinois State head basketball coach Dan Muller has been reprimanded for remarks made on Wednesday, Jan. 23, following the Redbirds’ loss at Bradley at Peoria’s Carver Arena.

“We encourage all coaches and administrators to utilize proper channels when communicating on any officiating matters,” said Elgin.  “Coach Muller’s remarks in a public setting were inappropriate.  We consider this matter closed, and there will be no further comments from the league office.”

What Muller Said

I didn’t deserve it at all. It was the most ridiculous call I’ve ever seen. I didn’t say one word. It was unbelievably unprofessional,” said Muller. “I waved my hands like that maybe twice, and he T’s me up from 50 feet. Completely undeserved and unprofessional. I don’t know what to say. I couldn’t believe when I turned around and a technical was being reported.” (Courtesy of pantagraph.com)

Editor: This Elgin’s second disciplinary move this week. Evansville coach Walter McCarty has been suspended one game for his comments about officials.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
