Editor: The following includes part of a press release from slubillikens.com.
(St. Louis, MO) –Saint Louis junior forward Hasahn French earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday, the league announced.
French had a monstrous game in the Billikens’ win against Belmont. He scored 21 points, collected 24 rebounds, had seven blocked shots and dished out four assists.
French’s 24 boards tied the Atlantic 10 Conference record, tied the third-highest total in Saint Louis history and set a Chaifetz Arena record. His seven rejections tied for the second most in Billiken annals and equaled the Chaifetz Arena mark.
In addition, French registered the first 20-point, 20-rebound game by a Billiken since Anthony Bonner’s 45-point, 20-rebound performance vs. Loyola Chicago on March 1, 1990.
In the Billikens’ win against High Point earlier in the week, French posted nine points and nine rebounds while also registering two blocked shots. He became SLU’s all-time career leader in blocked shots, surpassing Ian Vouyoukas’ previous record of 135 blocks.
Highlighted in that game was a double spin move by the Billiken center.
