Belmont 5 Times Academically Excellent

Editor: The following is part of a press release from belmontbruins.com.

Belmont University men’s basketball received the fifth annual Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Wednesday.

Created by the NABC Committee on Academics, the Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes superior academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2016-17 season.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, an institution must count the grade point averages of all men’s student-athletes competing during the 2016-17 season in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II.

Since inception of the NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards in 2013, Belmont is one of only three NCAA Division I programs to be honored every year, joining Eastern Washington and Rice.

Belmont has posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher 17 consecutive years.

The Bruins have also captured the OVC Team Academic Achievement Award every year since joining the conference.

Playing the point at @UEAthletics_MBB is @EKUHoops transfer Tayshawn Comer. The @ValleyHoops squad opens its season on Tuesday, but we wanted to get to know Comer now. Here is our conversation. #ValleyRunsDeep #NCAAHoops

Graphic from @NateSilver538. As a 'news watcher' this is one of the most fascinating elections to watch. I don't truly like either candidate, so that makes it less exciting, but as a 'news oriented' person, this is incredible theater.
