Belmont Goes Back to the NIT

(St. Louis, MO) – It’s ‘deja vu all over again‘ for the Belmont Bruins. For the second straight year, the Bruins won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship only to lose in the semi-finals of Music City Madness and end up in the National Invitation Tournament. For consecutive seasons the Bruins (22-6) will play their opening round game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

The postseason appearance is Belmont’s eleventh in the past 12 seasons. Georgia (19-14) defeated Belmont in last year’s NIT.

OVC ‘Player of the Year‘ Evan Bradds leads Belmont in scoring and rebounding (20.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game) and leads the Bruin’s into Wednesday’s 6:00 pm tip at Stegeman Coliseum. Fans can watch the game on ESPN3. Georgia counters with two 18-point-per-game players in J.J. Frazier and Yante Maten who scored a career high 33 points in last year’s Bulldog win over Belmont.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
