Bradds and Ford Take Top Honors
(St. Louis, MO) – Belmont’s Craig Bradshaw was the pre-season player of the year in the Ohio Valley Conference, but his teammate, Evan Bradds took home the postseason honor. In a vote of the OVC’s coaches and sports information directors, Bradds, who led the nation in shooting percentage, was named this year’s OVC ‘Player of the Year.’
Tennessee State’s Tahjere McCall was the league’s top thief this season at 2.3 steals per game and was named the top defensive player and Eastern Kentucky’s Nick Mayo was honored as the OVC’s top freshman. He won that weekly award nine times.
A ten man all-conference team was announced by the Ohio Valley Conference Tuesday. The league decided to make a ten player first team, and then revert back to a five man team for the second team honorees. Joining Bradds, Bradshaw, McCall and Mayo on the ten man team were Tennessee State’s Keron DeShields, Torrance Rowe of Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay’s Chris Horton, Twymond Howard of UT Martin, Murray State’s Jeffery Moss and Trae Anderson of Eastern Illinois.
DeShields, McCall and Mayo were part of the all-newcomer team along with Jarelle Reischel (Eastern Kentucky) and Tennessee Tech’s Ryan Martin.
Tennessee State produced a dramatic turn around by winning 15 games more than last year. For their efforts, head coach Dana Ford was named the OVC’s Coach of the Year.
