Career High Performances

Rhymes Heating & Cooling Hot Players of the Week

(St. Louis, MO) – In the highly competitive Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conferences it seems to take career high performances to receive league-wide notoriety. As league races are heating up this week’s Rhymes Heating & Cooling Hot Players of the Week used career high performances to differentiate their teams.

Ohio Valley Conference

Dylan Windler has done a lot of great things at Belmont, but he had never scored 41 points before. After scoring 20 points in Belmont’s first win last week, the 6’8 senior dropped 41 on Morehead State as the Bruins won their sixth and seventh straight games. Belmont (19-4, 10-2) is tied with Murray State and Austin Peay for the OVC’s top spot.

Windler, the preseason ‘Player of the Year‘ hadn’t claimed the weekly award until last week, and now he is the ‘Player of the Week’ for the second straight week.

Quintin Dove helped UT Martin turn their season around. After losing nine of their first ten OVC games, the Skyhawks swept a pair of home contests with Dove leading the way. The 6’8 junior averaged 22.5 points per game, but also grabbed a career high 15 rebounds in Martin’s win over Tennessee Tech. For his efforts, Dove received his third ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ award.

This week we have two ‘Freshman of the Week‘ awards. Both had career high performances. Eastern Kentucky’s Jomaru Brown averaged 22 points per game, including a career high 30 points in Saturday’s win over Tennessee State. Brown’s scoring average has jumped to 16.2 points per game in league play.

The other ‘Freshman of the Week’ is Southeast Missouri’s Gabe McGlothan. The SEMO forward recorded a pair of double-doubles. McGlothan scored a career high 27 points and grabbed a personal best 16 rebounds in SEMO’s overtime win against Tennessee Tech.

Missouri Valley Conference

Bradley’s Darrell Brown did not record a career high. He did become the first Brave in over ten years to make at least five three-pointers in consecutive games. The Valley’s ‘Player of the Week‘ averaged 27.5 points per game.  Brown sparked Bradley to a pair of victories, moving out of last place and within two games of third.

Valparaiso’s Javon Freeman did record the last of our noted career high performances. The 6’3 freshman scored a career high 27 points in Valpo’s win at Illinois State. His 17 points against Loyola left this week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ with four straight double-digit performances.
