Coaches Vs Cancer

(St. Louis, MO) – Two old traditions have joined forces to form one new exciting event. The ‘Meramec Holiday Tournament’ and ‘Coaches Vs Cancer’ were two different high school basketball tournaments at different times of the season and are one new tournament going on right now at Meramec Community College.

The 16-team extravaganza spans five days and includes some of the very best prep teams in St. Louis and across Missouri. Top seeded Webster Groves runs ten deep and great things are expected from the Statesmen. Defending champion Hazelwood Central is seeded second. The third seeded team is the top ranked team in the state of Missouri, Springfield Kickapoo.

Coaches Vs Cancer is raising money and awareness to fight the dreaded killer of so many Americans.

Some great players are participating in this year’s gala. Webster has two or three Division 1 prospects. Hazelwood Central is loaded with highly rated players and even lower seeded teams like St. Charles West have some star power in players like Logan Gonce and Davis Soderberg.

Join the Prep Sports Showcase for the semi-finals and finals. Kevin Paulus and I will be bringing you the coverage at www.prepsportsshowcase.com (there is a link on the front page of the site). The final four games are Monday night and the finals are Tuesday evening.

An emotional win for UNI. 36 hours ago, they learned their teammate, one of their leaders, Grace Boffeli, suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

Two of her roommates, Maya McDermott and Kayba Laube, combined for 58 points in an historic win. Credit @TommyBirch with great questions.
