(Kansas City, MO) – West Virginia University head coach Bob Huggins and University of Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin have accepted invitations to join the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Board of Directors.
“Bob Huggins and Cuonzo Martin are two of college basketball’s most well-respected coaches and leaders,” said NABC Executive Director Jim Haney. “Their experience and insight will bring great value to the NABC Board of Directors as we work to serve the game.”
Huggins, who has been at West Virginia since 2007 after previously serving as as the head coach at Kansas State, Cincinnati, Akron and Walsh, ranks third among active Division I coaches and seventh all-time in Division I with 845 career victories.
Huggins is also a current member of the NABC Ad Hoc Committee on NCAA Tournament Selections, Seeding and Bracketing and the NABC Ad Hoc Committee on College Basketball.
Martin just completed his first season at Missouri, where he led the Tigers to 20 wins and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Prior to taking over the Missouri program, Martin held head coaching roles at Cal, Tennessee and Missouri State. The former Purdue student-athlete has a career record of 206-134.
Martin was recently appointed to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee, where he serves as one of two active coaches on the influential group.
