Missouri Valley

Day One & Art

(St. Louis, MO) – It is tough to win road games in the Missouri Valley Conference and opening night of the season was no different.  All three home teams were victorious in their conference openers. None of the three games were that close as Drake and Northern Iowa both won their games by more than 20 points and Indiana State was 12 better than Loyola.

Nine different Sycamores scored four or more points as their balanced approach was too much for newcomer Loyola 70-58.  Indiana State is now 10-3 and perfect in five home games. St. Louisan Christian Thomas led the Ramblers with 19 points.

Northern Iowa’s Seth Tuttle led the way with 24 points while grabbing nine rebounds in the Panthers dominating 80-46 win over Bradley. The Braves have lost seven straight games. UNI has won two straight and four of their last five games.

Drake’s surprising start continued with a emphatic 94-66 win over Evansville. Boston College transfer Jordan Daniels has burst on the scene for the Bulldogs. With Wednesday’s 28 points Daniels has now scored in double figures in four of his five games since becoming eligible. He’s averaging just under 17 points per contest.

Tonight, seventh ranked Wichita State opens on the road at Southern Illinois and Missouri State hosts Illinois State.

When Missouri State tips tonight, our friend Art Hains will be broadcasting his 1,000th men’s basketball game and his 2,000th MSU athletic event. Art is one of the very best radio play-by-play men around and an incredible guy.  Congratulations Art!
