Dinnebier a Top Ten Candidate – Updated!
A Finalist for the Lieberman Award
(St. Louis, MO) – Reigning Missouri Valley Conference player of the year, Katie Dinnebier is a top ten candidate for the Nancy Lieberman Award. Named for the basketball hall-of-famer, this award goes to the nation’s top point guard.
According to the Naismith Hall-of-Fame, this honor goes to a player that “must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman.”
Iowa’s Caitlin Clark claimed the last three Lieberman awards. Current top ten candidate Paige Bueckers was the 2021 honoree.
Dinnebier leads the Valley and is second go Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore (also on the top ten list) in assists with 7.3 per game. The fifth-year senior is second in the Valley in scoring and the nation’s twentieth most prolific point-producer. She also leads the Valley in steals and minutes played. Harvard’s Harmoni Turner is the only top ten candidate that outscores Dinnebier (21.2 ppg).
Dinnebier and Northern Iowa’s Maya McDermott are midseason finalists for the Becky Hammon award.
“Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in both of the remaining rounds starting on Friday, February 7, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.”
