Drake is Dancing in Omaha

Darian DeVries Returning to Coaching Roots

(St. Louis, MO) – Drake fans received the best news they could have imagined during Sunday’s March Madness Selection Show. They don’t have a long drive to the game. Drake is dancing in Omaha and will play Washington State in Thursday’s opening round.

If they win that game, they could get a shot at Iowa State! While technically in the East Region, Drake’s first two games are just a two hour drive from Des Moines.

These are matchups made in heaven for Bulldog fans.

Drake (28-6) faces the Pac-12 second place finisher Huskies (24-9) as the final game of Thursday’s NCAA Tournament action. While Drake took two of three games played against Valley champion Indiana State, WSU swept Pac-12 champ Arizona.

After the bracket reveal we spoke with Drake head coach Darian DeVries about Selection Sunday and the tournament to come. Drake dancing in Omaha is a double blessing for DeVries. He was part of the Creighton coaching staff for twenty years and his son Tucker, grew up there.

During our conversation DeVries talked about Tournament lessons. His veteran players will help his newer team members stay focused.

Our entire conversation can be heard at Valley Hoops Insider Podcasts!

Three other Valley teams are participating in postseason basketball. Evansville anounced it will participate in the College Basketball Insider Tournament and Bradley and Indiana State are each playing in the National Invitation Tournament.

Playing the point at @UEAthletics_MBB is @EKUHoops transfer Tayshawn Comer. The @ValleyHoops squad opens its season on Tuesday, but we wanted to get to know Comer now. Here is our conversation. #ValleyRunsDeep #NCAAHoops

Graphic from @NateSilver538. As a 'news watcher' this is one of the most fascinating elections to watch. I don't truly like either candidate, so that makes it less exciting, but as a 'news oriented' person, this is incredible theater.
