Eastern Kentucky – Historic Win

Corey WaldenSt. Louis, MO – Eastern Kentucky earned an historic win Tuesday. The Colonels defeated Gardner-Webb 69-62 in CollegeInsider.com Tournament action.  In so doing EKU earned their first national post season victory since World War II (1945).

The Colonels are now 25 and 7 and await word on the place and time of their second round game.

Corey Walden led three players in double figure scoring with 26 points. Glenn Cosey added 22 while hitting six of nine three point attempts and Eric Stutz finished with 10. Walden made all four of his shots from beyond the three point line as the Colonels made over 46% of their shots from long distance.

The 25 wins are already a school record, three better than the old mark.

Head Coach Jeff Neubauer has now guided the EKU to three post season births in the past eight years.

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
