Faith Still Brings Miracles – Tennessee Upsets Michigan State

(St. Louis, MO) – One of the greatest upsets in March Madness history took place in downtown St. Louis on Friday. 15th seeded Middle Tennessee upset Michigan State 90 to 81, but how did it happen?

Make no mistake, Middle Tennessee is talented and they are a great shooting team, but that only takes you so far. For Blue Raiders head coach Kermit Davis it was about creative defenses, and aggressive offense, but more than anything, it was about belief.

The Blue Raiders (25-9) are averaging over 24 wins per season covering the last five seasons. Davis told his team to keep the game simple and just do the things that had brought them to this point.

Middle Tennessee was an amazing 11 of 19 from beyond the three-point line and were a red hot 56% shooting all game long. Reggie Upshaw led all scorers with 21 points. Giddy Potts scored 19. Harris and Buford each scored 11.

Davis’ team moves on to the round of 32 where they will face Syracuse. The Orange defeated Dayton to earn their trip to the second round.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
