Four Sides of Loyola’s Run
CBS’ “Holy Loyola” Documentary
(St. Louis, MO) – The accolades keep flowing in for the Loyola Ramblers. “Four Sides of the Story” will air on December 17 and will help Valley and Rambler fans relive that historic Final Four run. The CBS Sports Network series is in its second year and will also feature Alabama’s comeback victory in college football’s national championship game.
Loyola’s Sports Information Director Bill Behrns says four sides of the story will come from coach Porter Moser, Sr. Jean Delores Schmidt, Clayton Custer and Donte Ingram’s father Don. Loyola won a school-record 32 games, including NCAA Tournament wins over Miami, Tennessee, Nevada and Kansas State.
Berhns says CBS approached the school with this unique idea.
The phenomena surrounding the Ramblers’ Cinderella run was heightened by the curiosity involving Sr. Jean. The now 99-year-old nun became the talk of the March Madness. Behrns says the media requests for the team chaplain were practically unmanageable.
At times the Final Four run seemed more like work than fun, but Behrns’ staff knew they were working on something historic. The Loyola PR man said he learned some interesting things during the filming of the ‘Four Sides of the Story‘. One nugget involved Moser’s daughter.
The December 17th show was filmed this summer. Behrns says his responsibilities for CBS involved facilitation and organization. The affable and quotable Moser was in high demand by the CBS promoters.
What’s Next?
In Part Two of our interview we learn about incoming recruits and a new practice facility. Loyola has realized important benefits from their historic run and yet Behrns expects a spirited battle in the upcoming MVC season.
