Getting the Know Southern Indiana – Part One

One on One With USI’s Athletic Director

(St. Louis, MO) – The growing Ohio Valley Conference has added two new programs. Both programs are part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and are programs moving from Division II to D1. The University of Southern Indiana was the first to sign on and this is Part One of our ‘Getting to Know Southern Indiana’ series.

OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche told ovcsports.com the USI was a great fit for the new age OVC.

We are delighted that the University of Southern Indiana will become the newest member of the Ohio Valley Conference,” said Beth DeBauche, OVC Commissioner. “Given USI’s history of athletic success, including its national championships, its commitment to student-athlete academic achievement, and its visionary leadership, we are confident they will be a tremendous addition to our conference. We are excited to add another exemplary member and start the next chapter in our rich conference history.

We went one-on-one with USI Director of Athletics Jon Mark Hall. Here is that conversation.

Part Two of ‘Getting to Know Southern Indiana’ we’ll speak with men’s basketball coach Stan Gouard.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
