Editor: The following is part of a press release from lindenwoodlions.com.

(St. Charles, MO) – Lindenwood Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Brad Wachler announced the hiring of Kyle Gerdeman as the new head coach of the Lindenwood men’s basketball program. Gerdeman arrives at Lindenwood after spending the previous seven years as an assistant coach at Central Michigan University.

We are very excited to bring Kyle Gerdeman on staff here at Lindenwood,” Wachler said. “Kyle has demonstrated years of excellence in coaching, with on-court success as well as high-level academic achievement. I am excited to welcome Kyle, his wife Angie, daughters Alyssa and Harper, and son Karson to the Lindenwood Lions family.

Gerdeman becomes the program’s 20th head coach in program history and will lead the Lions into their first season as members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in the 2019-20 season.

I want to thank Brad Wachler and the entire hiring committee for providing me with the opportunity to lead the men’s basketball program at Lindenwood University,” said Gerdeman. “I have had a long familiarity with Lindenwood and its surrounding area, and it is a privilege to return to the great State of Missouri. To see the growth of the campus over the years, and the facilities that are available to our student-athletes, along with the vision of progress and success that was shared with me during the interview process, I could not be more excited to start building the future of the Lindenwood men’s basketball program.

During his time at Central Michigan, Gerdeman played an integral part in the Chippewas success on and off the court. The Chippewas reached the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals in 2018-19, finishing the season with a 23-12 record. Over his seven seasons at Central Michigan, the Chippewas posted a 121-108 record (.528).

Off the court, Gerdeman oversaw the program’s academic success, which took major strides under his direction. During his tenure at Central Michigan, 19 Chippewas earned Academic All-MAC honors and from 2014-16 the program placed more student-athletes on the academic honor roll than any other institution in the conference.

Prior to his arrival at Central Michigan, Gerdeman spent three years as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State, which was preceded by three years as the head coach at Moberly Area Community College (Mo.).
