Great Finish To The Title Game

GMcDermottSt. Louis, MO – Two great teams with outstanding coaches and clutch players put on a dazzling show in Sunday’s MVC tournament championship game. Wichita State and Creighton have been the two most successful teams in the conference for the past several years, but hadn’t met in St. Louis since either of the coaches joined their programs.

The ‘Arch Madness’ title game started slowly with neither team able to make a field goal in the first eight minutes, but these heavy-weights started throwing powerful offensive punches.

Creighton opened a double-digit lead late in the game, but the Shockers wouldn’t fade.  Like the champions they are, they made a determined run to put the decision in doubt with about a minute to go.

Armstead’s heroics brought Gregg Marshall’s team back within one point. The senior point guard had just registered his 28th point and the Shockers needed one more stop.

Greg McDermott’s team prevailed 68-65 and will represent the MVC in the NCAA tournament. The Shockers should be in the ‘Big Dance’ too and were brilliant in defeat.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
