(St. Louis, MO) – Players with solid resumes are building on those reputations and were honored for their performances in the Valleys this week.

Anthony Beane – siusalukis.com

It was a good move to name ‘Co-Players of the Week’ this week in the MVC. How could you separate the production of Southern Illinois’ Anthony Beane (58 points in two games) and Evansville’s Egidijus Mockevicius (47 points and 37 rebounds in two games). Both are having all-American type seasons and leading their teams to identical 13-2 marks.

Beane made 10 of 15 three point attempts and 12 of 15 free throws.

Mockevicius’ two double-doubles last week, bring his season total to a nation best 13. The 6’10 senior from Lithuania also leads the nation with 14.4 rebounds per game. His 21 rebounds against Missouri State gave him two games this season with 20 or more rebounds. He is the only player in collegiate basketball to do that this season.

Dequon Miller is making the ‘Newcomer of the Week’ award his personal possession. The Missouri State guard scored 31 points in the Bears’ two games and has reached double figures in each of his last eight games. The Motlow College transfer has received the weekly award three times in the past five weeks.

Ohio Valley

Belmont’s Craig Bradshaw is the pre-season ‘Player of the Year’ in the OVC, but hadn’t won a single weekly award this season. Until now. All Bradshad did was score 49 points (in 2 games) including clutch free throws in the Bruins’ big win over (# 20 in the RPI) Valparaiso.

Ryan Martin, on the other hand earned his third ‘New Comer of the Week’ award by scoring 46 points in two Tennessee Tech victories. The South Plains College transfer scored a career high 26 points against Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Jared Hamilton is now a two-time winner of the ‘Freshman of the Week’ award. The Charlotte, NC native averaged 12.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in Jacksonville State’s three games. Hamilton won the award during the first week of the season too. Nick Mayo of Eastern Kentucky has taken home freshman honors four times.

Bellarmine’s Rusty Troutman earned his second ‘Player of the Week’ award by scoring a career high 34 points for the 17th ranked Knights in their victory over # 11 Lincoln Memorial. Troutman’s 21.5 points per game scoring average is second in the GLVC.
