High Scoring Stars in MVC & OVC

(St. Louis, MO) – More and more players are scoring at a high level in the Ohio Valley and Missouri Valley Conferences. As both leagues announced their weekly awards, it’s obvious that offensive stars, on winning teams catch the attention of the voters.

Ohio Valley Conference

Josh Robinson – letsgopeay.com

The OVC’s leading scorer, Josh Robinson won his second ‘Player of the Week’ award for averaging 26 points during Austin Peay’s sweep of two road games. The Governors won at Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois Edwardsville. Robinson’s 36-point performance against EIU was his third 30 point game of the season. The 6’2 St. Louis native is currently 15th nationally in scoring (21.8 ppg).

Murray State players continue to dominate the ‘Newcomer of the Week’ award. Jonathan Stark won the first four weekly awards and now teammate Terrell Miller has taken the award during two of the last four weeks. Miller averaged 18 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as the Racers swept two road games. Miller has now recorded six double-doubles.

Southeast Missouri freshman Denzel Mahoney had a big week and has received the OVC’s ‘Freshman of the Week’ award. The 6’4 guard averaged 16.5 points as the Redhawks split two road games.

Missouri Valley Conference

Illinois State has soared to the top of the Missouri Valley Conference race with a pair of victories and MiKyle McIntosh played a huge hole in their ascension. After a subpar seven point, four-foul performance in a victory over Southern Illinois, the 6’7 forward went off with 20 points in the massive match up with Wichita State. McIntosh has topped the 20 point mark in three of his last four games and is this week’s ‘Player of the Week’.

Aundre Jackson – loyolaramblers.com

Loyola junior Aundre Jackson broke out of a midseason slump last week averaging 20 points per game as the Ramblers split a pair of league games. Jackson’s recent struggles (he failed to score more than five points in three straight games), led Head Coach Porter Moser to bring the 6’5 forward off the bench, and he responded with this week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week’ performance. The McLennan Community College transfer has won the award four times, tying him with Missouri State’s Alize Johnson.
