Missouri Valley
Home Teams Win
(St. Louis, MO) – All four Missouri Valley Conference games and both Ohio Valley Conference games were won by the home teams and suddenly Drake is one of the hottest teams in the Valley.
Leaders Keep Winning
League leading Northern Iowa and Wichita State won their home games in relatively easy fashion. Number 13 UNI handled Illinois State by 19 points and 15th ranked Wichita State beat Indiana State by 17.
MVP candidates Seth Tuttle (UNI) and Fred VanVleet (Wichita State) both topped 20 points in their respective wins.
Surging Bulldogs
Drake’s win (60-54) over Bradley made it the Bulldogs’ fourth win in their last five games. Suddenly, Drake (8-17)(5-8) has a chance to avoid Thursday night at the conference tournament.
Is Loyola Finding Their Rhythm
After dropping five in a row, Loyola has now won two of their last three after Wednesday’s 66-62 win over SIU. They’re still missing Milton Doyle, but Montel James (19 points) is stepping up his game. The Ramblers (15-10)(5-8) are tied with Drake for sixth in the Valley. That spot avoids the first round of Arch Madness.
EKU Moves Into First Place
Eastern Kentucky (15-9)(7-4) moved into the top spot in the OVC’s East Division with a win over Morehead State (12-13)(&-5) while Belmont (15-10)(7-5) was losing at Jacksonville State. EKU’s Eric Stutz led the Colonels with 25 points.
