COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Illinois State’s Dan Muller is one of four collegiate head coaches chosen to serve as court coaches for the 2017 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Cup Team training camp, as announced by USA Basketball Friday.
Also serving as court coaches are King Rice of Monmouth, Sean Hanrahan of Warner and Jeremy Shulman of Eastern Florida State College. Muller, Rice, Hanrahan and Shulman will assist the 2017 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Cup Team coaching staff of John Calipari (Kentucky) and assistant coaches Tad Boyle (Colorado) and Danny Manning (Wake Forest) during training camp in late June at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“I cannot wait to get to camp and learn from Coach Calipari, Tad and Danny, while helping the U19 players in any way I can,” Muller said. “I will be a sponge while doing whatever is asked of me. This is an absolute honor to be a part of USA Basketball. I will bring enthusiasm, patriotism and passion to every practice and meeting.”
As two-time defending U19 gold medalists, the United States will look to win its fourth U19 World Cup gold medal in the past five competitions in the early July event in Cairo, Egypt.
“To be a part of something so much bigger than myself, in USA Basketball, is a dream come true,” Muller added. “I have watched USA Basketball with such pride my entire life, and I will work extremely hard to represent my country and this team the right way.”
