Is JSU “St. Louis South”?
(St. Louis, MO) – If the Cameron Biedscheid commitment to Jacksonville State is true, then Jacksonville, Alabama could be come a new winter ‘destination stop’ for people from the Midwest.
Our friend Earl Austin Junior is reporting that the former Cardinal Ritter star has signed on with the Gamecocks. Biedscheid played his freshman season at Notre Dame and transferred to Missouri. This fall he left Columbia and has been looking for a new basketball home.
There were stories that he had signed with Iona, but that apparently is not true.
Biedscheid was an amazing prep player averaging over 30 points per game for the Lions. For more on that story, visit Earl’s site at www.earlaustinjr.com.
If he can become eligible this coming semester he will join CBC’s Darion Rackley and Alton’s JaQuail Townser on Head Coach James Green’s team. The Gamecocks are 5-4 after winning just 10 games last season.
Obviously Coach Green has his St. Louis connections wide open. He told me recruiting is a 12 month-per-year job.
Eight of JSU’s players have previous college experience including reigning Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week Jeremy Watson.
Rackley is averaging double digits in scoring for his four year career at JSU. Coach Green described him to me as the ‘face of the program.’
Townser is averaging over nine points per game in his first season with the Gamecocks.
