J Hood on the UIC Coaching Vacancy

Flames Announcer Joined the Podcast

(St. Louis, MO) – Jonathan Hood is a Chicagoland sports personality and is the ‘Voice of the UIC Flames’. With the firing of head basketball coach Luke Yaklich, UIC is on a coaching search. So we wanted to get as close as possible to the situation and get the take of J Hood on the UIC coaching vacancy.

Jonathan co-hosts a daily sports show ‘Kap & J Hood’ on ESPN 1000 and hosts a national radio show ‘Busted Heads’ about professional wrestling. He hosts other podcasts and is the Flames’ baseball announcer.

After four years at the helm, Yaklich was let go and UIC is looking for a new head basketball coach. Yaklich (47-70) is very highly respected in coaching circles and has a huge reputation as a defensive guru. He will find another job very soon, But what about the Flames?

With the portal opening and rumors of other administrative changes at UIC, finding and hiring a new coach is both important and somewhat urgent. Hood suspects that some time during March Madness, the Flames will make an announcement on their new hoops leader.

At least three Missouri Valley Conference programs are in full-out rebuild mode. Two other MVC schools released their coaches. Go here for information on the Missouri State search and click here to learn more about changes at SIU.

We hope you enjoy our conversation with Jonathan Hood.

Bonus Content: Hood tells me ‘The Rock’ will, in fact wrestle, not just talk a lot at this weekend’s WWE event.
