Just Another Night in the Valley
Two Of Three Games Go Into Overtime
(St. Louis, MO) – The stretch drive of the Missouri Valley Conference season is in full swing. Two of last night’s three games went into overtime and one high light made it to ESPN! All three home teams won and the battle for first place has intensified, and so has the scratching and clawing to avoid Arch Madness’ Thursday night games.
Wednesday Night’s Games
Drake 77 – Valparaiso 75 (overtime)
Drake’s Roman Penn hit the overtime winning shot with less than four seconds left in the extra session to push the Bulldogs (18-10, 8-7) into fifth place. Penn finished with 18 points. Sophomore center Liam Robbins tallied 21 points and five blocked shots. Valpo’s Mileek McMillan recorded a career-high 20 points and sophomore guard Javon Freeman-Liberty contributed 19 points and two steals. His season total of 65 steals is a new single-season Crusader record.

Bradley 83 – Missouri State 79 (overtime)
Five Braves (19-9, 10-5) scored in double figures, including sophomore Ja’Shon Henry who scored six of his ten points in overtime. Darrell Brown led Bradley with 19 points. Missouri State who played without senior Tulio Da Silva (flu), erased an 11-point deficit to force the extra session. Lamont West led four double digit scoring Bears (13-15, 7-8) with 20 points.
Loyola 84 – Illinois State 69
The only non-overtime game, was a come-from-behind effort by Loyola. The Ramblers trailed 38-34 at the half, but were unstoppable in the second stanza. LUC (19-9, 11-4) buried ten, second half triples, converting 62.5% of their long range attempts. Tate Hall scored a career-high 28 points and center Cameron Krutwig recorded a double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) while handing out eight assists. Illinois State (8-19, 3-12) was led by Zach Copeland’s 16 points.
