Kelly Burke At the Halfway Point

MVC Women’s Race

(St. Louis, MO) – Seven Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball teams are ranked in the top 130 in the NCAA’s ‘national evaluation tool’. Six teams are separated by two games for the Valley’s top spot. ESPN basketball analyst Kelly Burke evaluates the race and what we can expect during the second half of the league schedule.

You can see and hear Burke on men’s and women’s broadcasts and on volleyball, track and other Valley sports. She handles them all with ease and expertise. She was a college track athlete and has done her homework on the MVC squads and athletes.

Drake and Belmont each have one loss during conference play, but four other teams have no more than three league defeats and with ten more conference games after Saturday still to play, anything can happen.

Burke tells us four players have shot at the league’s Jackie Stiles – ‘Player of the Year‘ award.  Drake’s Katie Dinnebier, Illinois State’s DeAnna Wilson, Northern Iowa’s Grace Boffeli and Murray State’s Katelyn Young are the top contenders.  Outside of the front-runners, Burke tells us Missouri State and Illinois State are dangerous teams that could spoil the party.

An emotional win for UNI. 36 hours ago, they learned their teammate, one of their leaders, Grace Boffeli, suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

Two of her roommates, Maya McDermott and Kayba Laube, combined for 58 points in an historic win. Credit @TommyBirch with great questions.
