Final Weekly Awards of 2021
(St. Louis, MO) – As the calendar finishes off 2021 and covid-19 is canceling games, we remember some great performances. Earning the final weekly awards, the last stars of the week for this calendar year shined very brightly. While we worry about the likelihood of game cancellations, we celebrate what did take place.
Here are the final weekly awards for 2021.
Ohio Valley Conference
Murray State gave nationally ranked Auburn all they wanted last week because guard Tevin Brown gave a masterful performance. Brown scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds converting three long distance attempts along the way.
The 6’5 guard is the OVC’s ‘Player of the Week‘ and currently ranks 14th nationally in made three-pointers. His 291 career triples are fourth-best in league history. He is eleven bombs from third and thirteen from second place on the all-time list.
During Morehead State’s dominating victory over IUPUI, Wofford transfer Tray Hollowell buried four triples of his own, on the way to a 17-point performance. A 6’3 grad transfer, he has reached the ten-point mark in ten of MSU’s thirteen games and averages 12 points per game. The OVC ‘Newcomer of the Week” is second to Brown for the OVC leadership in long distance conversions.
Eastern Illinois freshman Paul Bizimana scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in EIU’s only game. The 6’8 Texas native also blocked three shots and is this week’s ‘Freshman of the Week‘.
Missouri Valley Conference
Terry Roberts led his team to a title and swept the Valley’s final weekly awards of 2021. Bradley’s leading scorer averaged 24.5 points per game, including a double-double during the Sun Bowl Invitational championship game. The Florida Southwestern State transfer was named the tournament’s MVP and he is the Valley’s ‘Player of the Week‘ and ‘Newcomer of the Week‘.
Roberts is the first Bradley player to sweep the weekly awards (and the second under head coach Brian Wardle) since Darrell Brown turned the trick in 2016.
This is Roberts’ second, newcomer award.

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
