Lawrent Rice Released From Murray State

Murray State Woes Continue

(St. Louis, MO) – After a tragic week of grief and loss in the Murray State program, a third blow happened Monday. Sophomore point guard Lawrent Rice has been released from the team. The 20-year-old Rice was arrested Sunday night. Four charges ranging from fourth degree assault, to first degree strangulation and first degree ‘criminal mischief’.

Murray State issued this official statement.

Lawrent Rice Released

According to various sources, Rice will be arraigned on Tuesday. Rice is no longer listed as an inmate at Calloway County Jail.

This announcement comes on the heels of two devastating deaths to people dear to the Racer basketball team and coach Steve Prohm. Racer fans were shocked and saddened by the passing of former assistant coach Amir Abdur-Rahim. Just days later, long time Racer fans heard about the passing of long time basketball supporter Larry Suiter. The X posts were just days apart, and were a double gut-punch to Prohm and Racer Nation.

An emotional win for UNI. 36 hours ago, they learned their teammate, one of their leaders, Grace Boffeli, suffered a season-ending ACL tear.
