MVC/OVC Players on the Henson List

National Mid-Major Player of the Year Award

(St. Louis, MO) – Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conference players are part of the Lou Henson Award watch list. The annual award is given to the top mid-major ‘player of the year’. Fifty players are on the watch list, including two from the OVC and three from the MVC.

OVC players on the watch list are UT Martin’s Parker Stewart and Southern Illinois Edwardsville’s Ray’Sean Taylor. Indiana transfer Stewart was a second-team all OVC player in 2020. Taylor was a part of the league’s all-newcomer team last season.

MVC preseason Player of the Year Tucker DeVries (Drake), Indiana State’s Courvoisier McCauley and Belmont’s Ben Sheppard are the Valley’s representatives. DeVries was the league’s Newcomer and Freshman of the Year. DePaul transfer McCauley is playing in his debut MVC season and Sheppard joined the Valley from the OVC when Belmont changed conferences.

The Henson Award is named after former Illinois and New Mexico State coach Lou Henson..

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
