Mark Adams – Still EnthusiAdams!
Mark Adams Enthusiastic During Stay @ Home
(St. Louis, MO) – While many in our nation are under the weight and stress of the coronavirus, our friend Mark Adams is still enthusiastic. The former college coach and current ESPN commentator, like all of us, is spending a lot of time at home, but he has not lost his zest for life.
In our endeavor to keep encouraging you, we felt spending some time with Mark would do you good!
He recently published “The Coach and The Geek” a fictional, but true-to-life book written for business leaders and basketball fans. He and business partner Jef Van Fleet collaborated to write an exceptional book that I couldn’t put down.
Adapting to Covid-19
Before talking about the book, I wanted to check on our friend’s welfare. True-to-form, Adams could truly see the bright side of working from home. He fishes in the back yard, pitches batting practice to his 14-year-old son and enjoys being around his wife Judy.
Mark and Van Fleet lead Lighthouse Technologies which provides software quality management consulting and software testing. Mark is also a motivational speaker and business and leadership consultant.
Love Affair With ‘Small College’ Basketball
Mark has been called ‘The Voice of the Mid-Majors’. His long time affiliation with the Missouri Valley Conference only deepened that reputation. Mark’s #DoMoreWithLess posts are legendary Twitter-food for thousands.
Adams’ head coaching experience in the NAIA has given him a deep affection for the Kansas City-based national tournament. He took his Rocky Mountain College team to the nationals. I’ve broadcasted games during that tournament and it is a fascinating event.
His love for the so-called ‘mid-majors’ runs deep. While Adams now broadcasts ESPN games for the American Athletic Conference is appreciation for the Valley and other leagues is tangible. His ten years of announcing MVC games were memorable and special.
Why So Enthusiastic?
Mark’s passion seems endless, his energy boundless and his zest for life is contagious. A lot of his energy and passion comes from a place of gratitude. His affection for college basketball and the people in the game runs deep. He loves college coaches. Interviewing and getting to know the players, other media members and athletic department staff is a joy.
I had to ask the man who carries the @EntusiAdams Twitter handle, ‘where does all that energy come from?’
Finally – The Book
Honestly, I couldn’t put ‘The Coach and The Geek’ down. It is engaging, entertaining, educational. I felt challenged on my personal leadership style and daily habits and inspired to make CBE (Career Best Effort) changes and improvements.
This fictional book is laced with Mark’s own experiences. Many of the stories are so true-to-life, that it may not be THAT fictional! You will learn about coaching, challenging yourself and how to serve others. This is a must read for basketball fans and business leaders.
During these difficult times of ‘stay at home’ orders, concerns about loved ones and struggles with our own physical and financial health, you could use some enjoyable interaction with Mark Adams.
