McIntosh Out 3-4 Weeks

(St. Louis, MO) – Illinois State basketball fans’ fears were confirmed Wednesday when Monday’s MRI of forward MiKyle McIntosh’s right knee revealed a meniscus tear. Wednesday, the team’s second leading scorer and rebounder had surgery on that knee and could miss the rest of the season.

Head coach Dan Muller told Jim Benson of pantagraph.com the usual recovery time is 3 to 4 weeks, which would bring the 6’7 Canadian back in the line up by the last regular season game. That is the best case scenario.

The Redbirds (19-4, 11-0) played their second game without McIntosh Wednesday and defeated Northern Iowa, as sophomore Phil Fayne recorded his second straight double-double (17 points & 10 rebounds).

ISU visits Wichita State (20-4, 10-1) on Saturday night.

With McIntosh’s absence, Fayne has become more of a focal point of the offense and guard, Keyshawn Evans has moved into the starting line up. Evans, a 6’ sophomore, scored six points in 31 minutes in Wednesday’s win.

Paris Lee led the way with 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals as ISU defeated Northern Iowa 57-51.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
