Mike Reis – Part Two – The People

Remembering Friends and Colleagues

(St. Louis, MO) – Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Reis says, ‘it’s the people you remember most‘ as he is stepping away from day-to-day duties behind the Southern Illinois Saluki microphone. During this second part of our discussion Reis talks about his friends in the business, relationships with player and with the fans.

Balancing relationships and the performance of his play-by-play duties for Southern Illinois Saluki sports was a 44-year challenge. He handled that balance with excellence. The SIU grad is proud of the accomplishments of Saluki radio. He says he always tried to prioritize the fans.

During Part One of our conversation we discussed teams, eras and the ‘why’ to his decision to pull back from his Saluki role. While saying he doesn’t get overly emotional, you can hear his passion for his profession and for the people that make his life rich.

Bradley hall of fame broadcaster Dave Snell is his best friend in the business. However, his list of close friends in the announcing world is long and heartfelt.

It’s our privilege to bring you Mike’s words and thoughts.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Josh Betts @BettsOnSports

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
