Morehead & EIU Move On

(St. Louis, MO) – The higher seeds maintained order in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. It wasn’t easy, but the so-called, favored teams won both games.

Clutch free-throws were the difference for fifth seeded Morehead State (16-16, 10-6), as they edged Southeast Missouri State 79-74. Kareem Storey and Angelo Warner hit four free throws in the final nine seconds to secure the win.

Jarekious Bradley finished his SEMO (13-17, 9-9) career brilliantly, finishing with 23 points and eight rebounds in defeat.

rp_primary_ms_johnston,cornell_4477Eastern Illinois (17-13, 9-7) won with a comfortable finishing margin (78-66), but the game was actually much closer than indicated. The 6th seeded Panthers had four players finish in double figures with forward Chris Olivier (24) and freshman of the year Cornell Johnston (22) leading the way.

Southern Illinois Edwardsville (12-16, 8-8) was led by freshman C.J. Carr’s 15 points.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
