Morehead State Faces Illinois
Tournament Champions Face Off
(St. Louis, MO) – Morehead State and Illinois each won their conference tournaments and earned trips to the NCAA Tournament. Now Morehead State faces Illinois in the tournament’s first round. This is the Eagles second trip in the last four years and the two teams will meet in Omaha on Thursday.
The 2:10 pm tip takes place at CHI Health Center in Omaha. Obviously both teams come to Nebraska on a hot streak. While Morehead (26-8) has won six straight games and the Illini (26-8) have won four-in-a-row and seven their last eight games.
Head coach Preston Spradlin joined us just after the Eagles’ Watch Party to talk about his team’s mood and his preparations for March Madness. Spradlin says his team will hang its hat on its nationally ranked defense and efficient offense against their rugged Big Ten opponent.
Morehead holds a 6-9 record in NCAA Tournament play. Its last March Madness win occured in 2011.
