Muller Wins Coach of the Year

(St. Louis, MO) – In the tightest of voting, Dan Muller is the Missouri Valley Conference’s ‘Coach of the Year’. The Illinois State head coach guided his team to a 25-5 record and tied Wichita State for the Valley regular season championship with a 17-1 league mark.

Muller edged (102-96) Shocker head coach Gregg Marshall in voting of media members, coaches and SID’s. It is the second straight narrow loss for Marshall who lost to Southern Illinois’ Barry Hinson by a score of 84-81.

The fifth year head coach carries a career record of 101-63 into this weekend’s conference tournament, and said he constantly thinks about the late Torrey Ward and others that perished in a two year ago plane crash. Seniors Tony Wills and Paris Lee also talk about playing a leadership role on this year’s team.

Muller and the Birds tip Friday at noon against a yet to be determined foe.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
