MVC/OVC Sixth Week Award Winners

Career High Games Posted

(St. Louis, MO) – Posting career high games will get you noticed. So will consistently outstanding performances. Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conference players did both this week. The sixth week award winners produced at high levels and in some cases during pivotal, game-winning situations.

There are just two weeks left in the non-conference portion of the schedule, so some players are making strong statements prior to the head-to-head action starting New Year’s weekend.

Sixth Week Award Winners – OVC

Lindenwood’s Keenon Cole put together back-to-back career games. The 6’7 senior set a personal high with 25 points against Avila and then topped that with 26 points during a nail-biting victory over IUPUI. This week’s ‘Player of the Week’ is the OVC’s second leading scorer (18.3 ppg) and has scored at least ten points in each of the Lions’ eleven games.

David Early led Tennessee Tech to a pair of victories. The Marshall transfer scored 26 and 21 points during the Golden Eagles’ sweep of Bethel and North Alabama. This week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week’ is Tech’s second weekly award winner. Rylee Samons was the OVC’s top rookie during the season’s fourth week.

Little Rock’s Jaylen Crocker-Johnson set a career high with 15 points during the Trojans’ win over UT San Antonio. Crocker-Johnson has claimed the last two ‘Freshman of the Week’ awards and has put together three-straight double-digit scoring performances.

Nate Heise led Northern Iowa to consecutive wins by recording his career high twenty-five points in one game and following that up with 23 in the next. This week’s ‘Player of the Week’ made nearly 78 percent of his shots during the two Panther victories. The veteran guard recorded his second ever double-double by grabbing ten rebounds against Prairie View.

Ryan Conwell’s 27-point performance against Ball State was his career high total and the Indiana State guard sparked the Sycamores to a Indy Classic victory. The South Florida transfer is this week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week’ joining teammate Isaiah Swope as winners of this weekly award.

Evansville’s Chuck Bailey III didn’t set a career high, but has claimed his third ‘Freshman of the Week’ award. Bailey tallied a key, four-point play during the Purple Aces’ tight victory over Bellarmine. The Michigan native contributed 12 points to Evansville’s eighth win.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
