Missouri Valley
MVC Weekly Honorees
Familiar Names
(St. Louis, MO) – Weekly honorees from the Missouri Valley Conference have familiar names and are sparking their teams to in-season success. With roughly one month left in the season, several of these players are also assured some postseason honors.
Winning streaks and individual accomplishments often go hand in hand. Members of first place teams often get noticed and a triple-double usually turns some heads.
Weekly Honorees – Players of the Week
Drake’s Katie Dinnebier recorded the second, triple-double in Bulldog history when she scored 19 points, grabbed eleven rebounds and handed out ten assists. With the win over Northern Iowa, the Bulldogs continued to be tied with Belmont for the Valley’s top spot.
Dinnebier, who leads the MVC in scoring, assists and steals picks up her second weekly honor as the ‘Player of the Week‘. She and teammate Grace Berg have two such honors and Illinois State’s DeAnna Wilson has three.

On the men’s side, Missouri State has won four straight games and Chance Moore was a big part of last week’s success. Moore’s 13 points helped lift the Bears to a come-from-behind win over Southern Illinois. During MSU’s next game he scored 23 points and grabbed thirteen boards as the Bears had to overcome another deficit.
Moore is the third Bear to be named ‘Player of the Week‘. He joins teammates Matthew Lee and Alston Mason.
Newcomers
Lacy Stokes has a stranglehold on the MVC’s ‘Newcomer of the Year‘ award. Monday the Missouri State guard picked up her sixth ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ honor. During the Lady Bears’ win at SIU she racked up 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Indiana State guard Ryan Conwell has taken the lead as the most decorated newcomer on the Valley’s men’s side. His third ‘Newcomer of the Week‘ award broke a tie with teammate Isaiah Swope, Belmont’s Malik Dia and Evansville’s Ben Humrichous.
The Sycamores swept Belmont and Drake and Conwell averaged 16.5 points and six boards for the first place ‘Trees’.
Top Freshmen
Bradley’s Halli Poock scored 26 points during the Braves’ second conference win of the season. During Bradley’s narrow road win at Evansville, the Valley’s ‘Freshman of the Week‘ hit four three pointers and made eight of ten free throw attempts. Poock has claimed two weekly honors.
Kevin Overton is in the running for ‘Freshman of the Year’. The Drake rookie averaged 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds as the Bulldogs split a pair of games. Overton’s third ‘Freshman of the Week‘ honor ties him for the second most. He’s tied with Valparaiso’s Cooper Schwieger. Evansville’s Chuck Bailey III has claimed four.
