One on One with Belmont’s Bart Brooks

Women’s Basketball Coach Has His Team Rolling

(West Africa) – Belmont’s Bart Brooks averages over twenty-four wins per season and this year his Bruins have knocked off three ‘money conference’ teams and have won four straight games. Wednesday Belmont’s women’s basketball team won its rivalry game the ‘Battle of the Boulevard’ against Lipscomb.

Despite losing last year’s top two scorers to ‘money conference’ schools via the portal, this season’s team boasts of five double-digit scorers in the starting lineup. During the first four weeks of the season, Jailyn Banks twice has been named the Valley’s ‘Freshman of the Week‘ and earlier this week Kilyn McGuff was named ‘Player of the Week‘. While McGuff’s 14 rebound game Wednesday pushed her into the team lead in rebounding (7.1 per game), two other players lead the team in scoring and assists.

Those titles belong to Tessa Miller (13.7 ppg) and Tuti Jones (4.4 assists per game).

Fresh off the rivalry game victory Belmont’s Bart Brooks spoke our Harry Schroeder.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
