OVC Early Signings

Slow Out of the Gate

(St. Louis, MO) – Three Ohio Valley Conference teams have released the information on their early signings of high school players. Only Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois Edwardsville and UT Martin have each announced two official commitments.

Eastern Illinois has inked two highly regarded guards. Luke Beickman and Markus Blackwell are joining the Panther program. Beickman is the fifteenth ranked senior in Kentucky and has topped the 1,000 point mark heading into his senior season.

Blackwell is ranked 14th in Michigan and has already scored 1,500 prep points. Marty Simmons’ rebuild at EIU seems to be taking hold.

Southern Illinois Edwardsville has inked two highly regarded St. Louis area players. Dehiro McCaskill comes to Edwardsville from St. Louis’ legendary Vashon high school and is the Show Me State’s fourteenth rated senior. Vashon is the defending State champion.

Tyler King graduated from St. Louis’ Parkway West and is playing at North Central Missouri junior college. King averaged over 20-points last season.

UT Martin has inked two natives of Senegal. Both players, Ama Tening Sow and James Bass are 6’10 or better and are playing prep ball in the US. Sow is competing in Pennsylvania where he is rated as the Commonwealth’s twenty-ninth best player. Bass is rated as the fortieth best player in Southern California.

Missouri Valley Conference teams have been more aggressive with their early signings.

While numerous outstanding prospects are ‘committed’ to OVC programs, we’re waiting for those official announcements.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
