OVC/MVC Weekly Honors

Scoring Explosions

(St. Louis, MO) – Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conference players achieved weekly honors by producing outstanding scoring explosions. Career high scoring performances and key road wins highlighted this week’s games.

Once again, only one player receiving weekly honors played a game on their current team last year.

Players of the Week

Texas Tech transfer KyeRon Lindsay scored a career-high 27 points during Murray State’s road victory over Middle Tennessee. The 6’8 forward came off the bench to spark Murray and to earn this week’s MVC ‘Player of the Week’ honor.

Southern Illinois Edwardsville’s busy week included a record setting performance by guard Ray’Sean Taylor. The 6’1 grad-student became the Cougars’ all-time leader in three-point baskets (227) while averaging 21 points during SIUE’s three road victories. This week’s OVC ‘Player of the Week’ is tied for second nationally with 21 triples.

Missouri State won two games and Vincent Brady II was a major contributor. The IU Indianapolis transfer averaged 18 points during the Bears’ two victories. This week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week’ is averaging twelve points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Tennessee State’s Brandon Weston put together a spectacular week of work. The Rhode Island transfer averaged 25.5 points and ten rebounds during the Tigers’ split of two games. This week’s OVC ‘Newcomer of the Week’ is TSU’s leading scorer (19.0) and rebounder (7.6).

Freshmen of the Week

Redshirt freshman Sam Orme has stepped into a significant role at Belmont. The Valley’s ‘Freshman of the Week’ averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds as the Bruins knocked off Lipscomb and Air Force. Orme is one of four Bruins averaging double figures (11.3) and leads Belmont with eleven three-pointers.

For the second straight week, a Lindenwood freshman has been named OVC ‘Freshman of the Week’. Jadis Jones was named last week and Clayton Jackson brings home these weekly honors. The St. Louis native averaged 10.7 points during the Lions’ three games. Jackson hit three triples in LU’s one-point win over Stonehill.
