Rally for Rhyan – Standing With Loos
(Nashville, TN) – Austin Peay basketball coach Dave Loos is facing the biggest challenge of his adult life. After patrolling the Governor side-line for 25 years (765 games) and winning five Ohio Valley Conference ‘coach of the year’ awards, Loos is looking at a stiff test.
And he’s not facing it alone.
The winner of 473 games in a 29-year head coaching career, Loos wants to win this battle more than any he has fought. His 5-year-old granddaughter Rhyan has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
Rhyan is the daughter of University of Missouri assistant basketball coach Brad (and wife Jen) Loos and support is pouring in from the collegiate basketball community.
A gofundme.com account has been established to help the Loos Family with upcoming expenses as has a #RallyForRhyan account at all 16 Central Bank locations in the Columbia, Mo., area.
In support of Rhyan Loos, a t-shirt, #RallyforRhyan has been designed. Profits from these shirts will go directly to help offset expenses the Loos family will be incurring in these upcoming months. The price for the shirt is $23.50 and available at: http://www.bluecotton.com/campaigns/rallyforrhyan
The senior Loos told me the medical professionals are working hard to help, the basketball community is bringing great emotional support and that the family needs prayer.
At this week’s OVC media day, coaches were rallying behind Dave Loos and support has poured in from Kansas State, Central Missouri (Brad’s former job), international teams, Mizzou’s women’s team, the Wisconsin Badgers and the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens.
Recently Brad Loos reported Rhyan completed her first round of chemo therapy.
The elder Loos was a high school coach in the St. Louis area and some area basketball coaches are considering a formal way to support Dave and his granddaughter Rhyan. Valley Hoops Insider will keep you informed about those events.
We invite you to pray for the Loos family and visit their Facebook page and lend a tangible hand.
