SIUE Extends Barone

Editor: The following is part of a press release from siue.prestosports.com.

(Edwardsville, IL) – SIUE Director of Athletics Tim Hall has announced a contract extension for men’s basketball Head Coach Brian Barone which will take him through the 2023-24 season.

Barone’s current contract runs through the 2022-23 season, with an option for the 2023-24 season. Hall said the extra year provides some clarity to current student-athletes and potential recruits.

Brian and his staff are doing things the right way,” Hall said. “They have progressed on the court, excelled academically and have brought in the best recruiting class in our history. This extension assures them of four seasons going forward.

Being the Head Basketball Coach at SIUE is an absolute honor,” Barone said. “Building a winning program is no small task, and there are no short cuts that will be taken. Under the leadership of Tim Hall, it has been a team effort in working to get our program to where it should be. I am thankful to our team and staff who work hard to help grow our program every day. Our goal is to build a consistent winner on and off the court.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
