Southern Illinois Meets Murray State

One-on-One With Scott Nagy

(St. Louis, MO) – When Southern Illinois meets Murray State Wednesday night, there will be two teams looking for some momentum heading into the final two weeks of the season. SIU (12-15) and Murray (13-14) are two of five Missouri Valley Conference teams tied at 7-9.

Those five are tied for sixth place, one game behind fifth place Illinois Chicago.

Game time is set for 6 pm. This game was originally scheduled to be played in Murray, Kentucky, but storms and electricity outages in the area have moved the game to Carbondale.

We spoke with coach Scott Nagy before that announcement.

Murray’s Sunday game with Northern Iowa had to be moved to Belmont. UNI won the contest. The Racers are losing the opportunity at two home games due to this massive storm.

Coach Nagy is in his first year at the helm of the Saluki program. Here is our conversation about when Southern Illinois meets Murray State. The Racers won the first meeting between the two.

Coach Nagy has won 346 Division 1 games, winning exactly 167 games at both South Dakota State AND Wright State.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
