(St. Louis, MO) – Two teams grabbed multiple awards in this week’s handing out of hardware. The Ohio Valley and Missouri Valley Conferences weekly awards were largely gobbled up by two teams.

Eastern Kentucky’s Tre King averaged 21 points and ten rebounds during the Colonels’ two games. The 6’9 junior had a career night during EKU’s overtime loss to Xavier. King scored a career high 25 points and grabbed a personal best 13 rebounds. This week’s ‘Player of the Week‘ is the OVC’s third leading scorer and third in rebounding.

Speaking of over overtime games, UT Martin won an extra-period thriller over Evansville. Sophomore guard Eden Holt sent the game into overtime with a buzzer-beating triple and then added seven free throws in the extra session. Holt totaled 24 points and this week’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘.

King’s teammate Curt Lewis and Belmont rookie JaCobi Wood are this week’s ‘Co-Freshmen of the Week‘. Lewis exhibited a solid floor game in averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3 assists during EKUs two games. Wood, the OVC’s leading freshman scorer produced 17 points in Belmont’s only game.

Missouri Valley Conference

Southern Illinois teammates Marcus Domask and Ben Harvey took both MVC honors. Domask, the league’s reigning ‘Freshman of the Year‘ is this week’s ‘Player of the Week‘ and Harvey, and Eastern Illinois transfer is the ‘Newcomer of the Week‘.

SIU won both of their games and Domask averaged 21 points, including 24 during the team’s overtime win against Southeast Missouri. He is the first Saluki sophomore to win a league-wide weekly award since Anthony Beane accomplished the feat during the 2013-14 season.

Harvey scored 22 against SEMO and averaged 19 points per game for the week. Both Salukis shot better than 84% from the free-throw line and were significant rebounding contributors.

Playing the point at @UEAthletics_MBB is @EKUHoops transfer Tayshawn Comer. The @ValleyHoops squad opens its season on Tuesday, but we wanted to get to know Comer now. Here is our conversation. #ValleyRunsDeep #NCAAHoops

Graphic from @NateSilver538. As a 'news watcher' this is one of the most fascinating elections to watch. I don't truly like either candidate, so that makes it less exciting, but as a 'news oriented' person, this is incredible theater.
