The Beard Lives – Marshall Suspended
(St. Louis, MO) – Greg Lansing’s beard is living to grow another day! Indiana State has won five straight games since Head Coach Greg Lansing forgot his razor on a road trip to Illinois State. The Sycamores have won every game so the beard stays.
Indiana State (9-8)(5-0) remains tied with Wichita State for the top spot in the Missouri Valley Conference after Wednesday’s over time win against Illinois State (10-7)(2-3). The streak hasn’t contained any laughers. Lansing’s team has won two overtime games, and four of the five wins have been by four or less points.
Tre’ Bennet was the hero Wednesday with the game winning lay-up (71-70).
Lansing told me the whole beard thing happened by accident.
Loyola Wins Again – St. Louisan Christian Thomas rebounded from a subpar performance on Sunday, turning in a 16 point showing sparking the Ramblers to a 50-47 win over Drake. Loyola (13-4)(3-2) has already earned three more wins than last season.
Evansville Gets Road Win – Double-Double machine Egidijus Mockevicius led Evansville to a two-point win at Missouri State (56-54). Mockevicius earned his 13th double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, as the Aces (13-4)(3-2) are within one win of last season’s total. Missouri State (8-9)(2-3) played without leading scorer Marcus Marshall who is suspended indefinitely by the team for what school officials are calling “misconduct”.
SEMO Wins At Jacksonville State – In the only Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday, Southeast Missouri won easily (69-52) at Jacksonville State. The Redhawks (8-10)(2-3) overcame 15 point, six rebound performance by St. Louisan Darion Rackley. The Gamecocks (8-11)(1-4) have dropped seven of their last eight games.
