Missouri Valley
The MVC Wait Ending Monday?
(St. Louis, MO) – Mark Adams has done it again. He has practically broken twitter with another scoop on the Missouri Valley Conference expansion saga. The long-time ESPN broadcaster with ties to both the Valley and the Ohio Valley Conference, tweeted today that the long awaited university presidents’ meeting with MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin will happen on Monday.
Valley Hoops Insider has learned the meeting will be conducted Monday night and decisions could be announced as early as Tuesday. Seven of the nine university presidents would have to vote affirmatively to approve any of the expansion plans.
MVC presidents to meet Monday evening, May 8, 2017 to discuss expansion path forward for The Valley.

Adams, who has appeared with us on Voices of the Valley, previously tweeted that Valparaiso would be the only team of the four being considered to receive an invitation. The veteran broadcaster has numerous potential sources, both inside and outside the conferences involved, as he has become the unofficial ‘Voice of Mid-Major Basketball’. He went on to say the situation was fluid and that the expansion decisions haven’t been finalized.
We have been hearing all along that May 8th was an MVC target date, and now Adams has solidified that in the minds of many others.
After the Adams tweets about Valpo, Murray State Director of Athletics, Allen Ward has been adamant that nothing has been decided and that his Racer program is still in the running.
The widely known four programs under consideration are UW-Milwaukee, Murray State, Valparaiso and Nebraska-Omaha. Wichita State declared their plans to leave the Valley on April 7 and league officials have moved judiciously and yet with some very real urgency to come to conclusion in one month’s time.
