There’s Only One Marshall
Kansas City, MO – What do you do if you’ve made one of 11 first half shots? If you’re Marshall Henderson of Mississippi, you just keep on shooting, beating your chest and leading the Rebels to victory.
The 6’2″ shooting guard, and I mean SHOOTING GUARD, went five of 10 in the second half, finished with 19 points and Ole’ Miss won their NCAA tournament game 57 -46 over Wisconsin. Of course you expect the 12 seed to beat the five seed more often than not.
The Rebels swept their way into the NCAA field when they won the SEC Tournament and won their first ‘March Madness’ game in more than a decade. Coach Andy Kennedy’s team has won six straight games and eight of their last nine and will battle upstart LaSalle on Sunday.
Henderson says he wasn’t really worried about his poor first half performance because Coach Kennedy has told him to be like a serial killer
The affable Kennedy was so glad Henderson made his first three pointer of the second half, he called a time out to celebrate.
Ole Miss’ run to the final 32 teams in the nation has come from a tough minded approach that Kennedy calls ‘the grind’.
Two gritty teams will match up in Sunday’s game at the Sprint Center.
