Undefeated Drake Strikes Again

Ben McCollum After the Win

(St. Louis, MO) – Undefeated Drake (10-0) strikes again. This time it was an overtime thriller in Kansas City as the Bulldogs took down their third power conference team of the young season. 73-70 was the final over the Big Twelve’s Kansas State. Bennett Stirtz buried the game-winning triple with four seconds left to secure the victory.

Mitch Mascari led the offense making eight three-pointers and totaling 25 points. Stirtz finished with 19 points, with eight coming in the extra session. Drake ran off the first eleven points of the game and led by as many as 20 points in the first half, but Kansas State fought back into the game and forced the overtime.

Drake is one of just five undefeated collegiate teams and have now defeated the SEC’s Vanderbilt, the ACC’s Miami and now the Big Twelve’s Wildcats.

Head coach Ben McCollum joined us right after the epic victory.

Drake didn’t allow a field goal over the final 4:33 of regulation. Then the Bulldogs yielded just one field goal in the overtime session.

We spoke with ESPN broadcaster Kevin Lehman shortly after the game and here are his thoughts around the dramatic Missouri Valley Conference win.
