Valpo Lawsuit Update

(St. Louis, MO) – Negotiations continue surrounding the lawsuit between the Horizon League and Valparaiso University. Few observers believe the $500,000 lawsuit will actually make it to court, as both sides proclaim their rights and the accuracy of their arguments. The lawsuit also names the Missouri Valley Conference as one of the defendants.

When Valpo left the Horizon for the Valley, many assumed the Crusader athletic department would pay a $500,000 early exit fee, based on league rules established after Loyola University made the same move in 2014.

Because of ambiguity surrounding Valparaiso’s entry payments to the Horizon and other financial considerations, the university felt they shouldn’t have to pay the full $500,000 and the league followed with a lawsuit.

Our story “Horizon/Valparaiso Lawsuit” gives all the details and information from Valparaiso officials and from a Valley lawyer.

Valley Hoops Insider has now learned that Valpo’s motion to have the trial moved to Porter County, from Evansville will be heard on November 3. That move, some believe, would immediately pull the Missouri Valley Conference from the suit.

Playing the point at @UEAthletics_MBB is @EKUHoops transfer Tayshawn Comer. The @ValleyHoops squad opens its season on Tuesday, but we wanted to get to know Comer now. Here is our conversation. #ValleyRunsDeep #NCAAHoops

Graphic from @NateSilver538. As a 'news watcher' this is one of the most fascinating elections to watch. I don't truly like either candidate, so that makes it less exciting, but as a 'news oriented' person, this is incredible theater.
