Voices of the Valley – Snell & Tickel
Courtside Chat # 2
(St. Louis, MO) – Dave Snell has broadcasted over 1,300 Bradley basketball games and Hunter Tickel has reported on less than two Indiana State contests. The Braves’ broadcaster and the Sycamores’ beat-writer joined Voices of the Valley on this week’s ‘Courtside Chat’ with Mike Kern.
Snell has spent 44 seasons with the Bradley program and the Missouri Valley Conference. Tickel is stepping into the shoes of the legendary Tribune Star reporter Todd Golden.
While new to the league, Tickel is a midwesterner and familiar with both the league and the midwest’s prep scene. During his first fortnight covering the Trees and the Valley he has been impressed by the amount of passion surrounding the team and league.
Snell and Southern Illinois broadcaster Mike Reis are the longest tenured announcers in the league, so we asked the ‘Voice of the Braves’ about some of his fondest memories.
Indiana State drew its largest crowd of the past two seasons for this week’s game against Southern Illinois. Tickel says there is a growing buzz about the team in Terre Haute.
While Bradley is tied for second place in the Valley race, Snell expects grater things from the Braves.
