Western Illinois’ Paul A. Bubb

Newest OVC Member’s Athletic Director

(St. Louis, MO) – Western Illinois is the newest and eleventh member of the Ohio Valley Conference. Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb is midwest guy that loves Leathernecks’ sports and is leading the program into this exciting stage of athletics history.

WIC is joining the OVC during a time of resurgence and growing stability and is a natural fit. Leathernecks’ sports fit the OVC geographically, academically and financially. Mr. Bubb received his masters degree from Western and is enjoying his second full year as the Director of Athletics. While working in college administration and sports administration for thirty years, WIU is his ‘dream job’.

Bubb and Valley Hoops Insider Harry Schroeder discussed the Leathernecks’ move to the OVC and the strengths of the WIU athletic department.

Bubb believes regional rivalries will be advantageous to the growth of WIU athletics and points to the deepening of a rivalry with Eastern Illinois as a key ingredient.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Josh Betts @BettsOnSports

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
